At the ripe old age of 10, John was given the opportunity of a lifetime: the lead role in the big-screen adaptation of the beloved sci-fi novel, The Jupiter Chronicles Volume I. Unfortunately, he was terrible. The press was merciless, the fans even worse and a new thing called “the Internet” had its first universal punching bag. John spent his 20’s making futile attempts to be taken seriously as an actor. Depressed and alone on his 30th birthday, John downed a bottle of whiskey, wandered the streets and ended up assaulting 2 cops who were trying to bring him home safely. Faced with the prospect of jail, John takes community service in the form of substitute-teaching an ESL class. Bitter and cynical, John is literally the least likely candidate to teach an ESL class. Despite the shell of negativity, he can also be gregarious and charming, and has a deep, untapped reserve of empathy that will gradually be revealed throughout the course of the show.
