Unfortunately,he was terrible. The press was merciless,the fans even worse and a new thingcalled “the Internet” had its firstuniversal punching bag. John spenthis 20’s making futile attempts to betaken seriously as an actor. Depressedand alone on his 30th birthday, Johndowned a bottle of whiskey, wanderedthe streets and ended up assaulting 2cops who were trying to bring him homesafely. Faced with the prospect of jail,John takes community service in theform of substitute-teaching an ESLclass. Bitter and cynical, John is literallythe least likely candidate to teach an ESLclass. Despite the shell of negativity,he can also be gregarious and charming,and has a deep, untapped reserve ofempathy that will gradually be revealedthroughout the course of the show.
